Brainfuse

Brainfuse provides live, certified educators and navigators as well as practice tests, career credentialing, adult basic skills assistance, and lots more in three resources:

• HelpNow
  • Students can connect LIVE with a certified tutor 24/7 for assistance with assignments, research and writing. Also find practice tests, study plans, and more. Tutoring is available in English and Spanish.
• JobNow
  • Connect with a certified career coach, seven days a week between 2 and 11 pm. Get help with résumé writing, applications, searches, and skill development needs. Also find unemployment assistance, résumé templates, career assessments, and more. Includes test prep resources and practice tests and career credentialing information for over 140 specific careers.
• VetNow
  • Connect LIVE with a military benefits navigator, seven days a week between 2 and 11 pm, for help with eligibility questions, connecting with veteran's benefits and community resources, transitioning from a military to civilian career, and more.

How Do Patrons Access It?

Each library was provided a unique URL for each product.  Patrons must have a library card barcode to access.

• You can share your library's HelpNow link with your local schools to help promote use by students. A coule of things to note:
  • The students will need a library card to access HelpNow
  • Since HelpNow is licensed through LVA for public libraries, teachers should not require students to use HelpNow or incorporate it into specific classroom work. It is a supplement to support further learning at home if a student needs some extra guidance or help.
  • You can use this HelpNow letter template for promoting to the schools.

Statistics?

1. Login to the Brainfuse (https://www.brainfuse.com/login) site with your admin credentials (contact Barry Trott, barry.trott@lva.virginia.gov if you do not have login credentials)
2. Click Legacy Usage Reports
3. In the report window select the following options:
   1. Under the Home Menu, choose one of the three LVA-provided databases (HelpNow, JobNow, VetNow)
   2. Reporting period: choose the appropriate period
4. Click Filter
5. Get the Total Usage
6. Repeat for other LVA-provided two databases
7. Report the Total Usage for all three LVA-provided databases
