Indie Virginia Resources
BiblioBoard's Indie Author Project, a free resource for local authors, is now part of LVA's collection of resources for Virginia public libraries. Here is what is included:
- An LVA branded submission page that has information about all the pieces of the project, and a link for authors to submit their books.
- Once submitted, books will be vetted by professionals including a graphic/offensive material check as well as safeguards to eliminate AI-created titles.
- When approved, the titles will be added to the Indie Virginia collection, offering unlimited simultaneous use via the web and major tablet/phone devices via the BiblioBoard Library app.
- Content on the platform is available to all patrons with unlimited, multi-user access, without any additional charges.
- Built-in geolocation authentication.
- MARC records for integration with most ILS systems to help make discovery simple.
- The project also includes:
- Indie Author Project Select: If an author’s book is selected as “the best of the best”, it is placed into the Indie Author Project Select collection which is available in over 3,000 of our partner libraries across the U.S. and Canada. Authors that are selected for the IAP Select will be able to earn royalties.
- Authors needing to create their ebook can access Pressbooks Public, a digital self-publishing tool allows authors to format, design, and create their own professional quality print-ready and eBook files. It can be easily integrated into existing writing programming and requires no design or tech experience.
